"Run faster for longer with less training"
Albert Einstein once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. Think about this quote for a second and ask yourself, does this apply to the way you work out? Whenever you want to see a different result, a positive change, an improvement in your performance or realization of your goals, you have to do something different from whatever you are currently doing.
If you are an endurance athlete or looking to compete in sport-specific races, chances are you are familiar with the typical endurance programming that includes long hours, progressive training volume and constant repetition. Any athletic endeavor comes with some risk of injury, however high mileage training, coupled with poor running form, typically leads to a higher rate of injury in athletes following a long slow distance (LSD) method of training. CrossFit Endurance aims to challenge these training methods and teach athletes how to maximize power and speed while decreasing the risk of injury…so what exactly is CrossFit Endurance and why is it a better way for athletes to train?
CrossFit Endurance is an endurance sports training program that focuses on eliminating excessive training volume while increasing intensity and teaching proper running mechanics. The goal of CrossFit Endurance is to create a more sustainable performance curve in endurance sports without the pain and injury that is common in LSD training and to emphasize quality over quantity. Strength, speed and power are all critical components to success in endurance. These elements, which are missing in many endurance programs, slow the process of breaking down the body from the constant pounding that takes place in higher mileage training.
