I graduated in 2006 with my Associate Degree in Nursing from WCJC, and received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2012. I am now an Operating Room Manager at an outpatient surgery center in West Houston.
Although I moved to Houston more than ten years ago, I was a late bloomer in discovering CrossFit, more by choice than by chance. I ran marathons, participated in adventure races, competed in Alpha, and worked with a personal trainer. I was always looking for the challenge that would keep me hooked but had never found it. My brother, Zach, had been involved with CrossFit for several years and was always inviting me to drop in for a class, but I avoided what I thought was just another fad.
In August 2015 my life was forever changed. I completed my first WOD, and I knew without a doubt that I had found what I had been searching for. I am stronger, fitter, faster, and healthier than I’ve ever been. I love CrossFit for its constant evolution, embodiment of functional movement, adaptability for people young and old, and culture of empowerment. Here strength is beauty, and the last to finish is the one we cheer for the loudest.
Outside of the box I am usually competing in a CrossFit competition or charity WODs, having brunch with friends, attempting a home improvement project, or spending time with my two Great Pyrenees Remington (Remi) and Cheyenne.
